Dog Den Heater Installation

  1. Remove the interior floor and insulation from the Dog Den (Regular) or Dog Den (Large) lid (floor is taped to lid).
  2. Locate the 1¼" round hole in the bottom floor. The hole is near the corner across from the door opening. Insert the rubber grommet in the 1¼" hole. Cut a hole in the insulation large enough for the electrical cord to pass through the floor.
  3. Place the heating mat on top of the insulation and pass the electrical cord through the hole in the insulation and steel floor shown in Fig. 1. The fleece cover should not be used for this application.
  4. Insert the extra piece of insulation as shown in Fig. 2.
  5. Place the heating mat on top of the insulation and pass the electrical cord through the hole in the insulation and steel floor. The fleece cover should not be used for this application.
  6. Replace the steel interior floor on top of the heating mat. Make sure that the floor is fully inserted around the insulation.
  7. The electrical cord is chew-resistant. It is not chew-proof.
  8. The heating mat is designed to maintain a surface temperature of 102 degrees F and cycle on and off to maintain the preset temperature. The unit should be unplugged when ambient temperatures rise above 50 degrees F.
  9. DO NOT USE BLANKETS OR PILLOWS AS THEY CAN JAMB THE DOOR.
  10. Heavy-duty rubber mats placed inside work well with the heater while keeping the dog from lying on a hard flat surface. We have had good results using an Astroturf doormat on top of the floor. They are readily available at most home improvement stores.
  11. The heaters carry a one-year manufacturer warranty. Contact the manufacturer directly for technical or warranty questions at: Farm Innovators, Box 452, Plymouth, IN 46563; Phone: (800) 277-8401.
